Building on the success of the earlier JV-1080, this rack-based multitimbral beauty offered a massive stash of PCM-based sounds, modulation features aplenty and a slew of effects, and was versatile enough to appeal to a wide range of producers. Im not quite sure about the roland sounds though because I produce hip hop and the sounds I heard on the demo mp3s on rolands web site were OK but I didnt hear anything that popped out at me. It does takes a lot of time to learn all its features properly, but once you understand all its features you realize how much endless variety of tones you can get out of it that you never want to let it go. Released in 2000, Roland’s XV-5080 was billed as the company’s ultimate sound module, and with good reason. Roland XV 5080 Roland XV 5050 I already KNOW the sounds on the motif are excellent. Its also has sample playback, and imported samples due to clear sound engine sounds HD then on any machine i ever heard so far. It has more pros and cons, that is that due to enormous present high end lots of patches sounds bright,but also some sounds form previous machine sound amazingly clear like never before, since you can load sysex from any JV/XP/XV machine. It has 128 voices and much better FX, sound routing, sound creation.

Sound quallity is amazing 24bit/48khz.ĭownsides are that factory presets sounds average and boring, once you figure out how to do your own it open up wide range of possibilities, and believe it or not it can do almost all type of sounds good. The XV5080 is taking over from the JV1080 and has all the expansion cards from there. Its rompler workhorse, and you can get very deep with programming if you want to. Rolands latest module provides the most affordable way yet to access the companys fine XV soundset, albeit with reduced polyphony and a less intuitive user interface compared to the more expensive XV5080. In addition to waveform playback, it also supported playing samples in Roland S-700 or Akai format and could be expanded with up to 128MB of sample RAM. It contains the same sound set as the XV-3080 rack module, which also includes the sounds of the JV-1080 and JV-2080.

Authentic software replica of the famous Roland XV-5080 rack synthesizer from 2000 128-Voice PCM sound generation with over 1000 waveforms and 900 patches. The Roland XV-5080 was the rackmounted flagship of the JV/XP/XV series of synthesizers.
